DOGE Contract Tracker

Every federal contract action recorded under the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) initiative. 18 actions to date affecting $4.9B in contract ceilings — 7 terminated, 5 reduced, 4 paused, 2 under review. Each action is cross-referenced against the original contract on USAspending.gov.

How to Read These Numbers

DOGE-published "savings" figures often reference the ceiling of an affected contract — the maximum dollar amount the contract could reach if every option year were exercised — rather than the cash that would actually leave the Treasury. A contract with a $100M ceiling that has been mostly performed and paid will show a $100M "affected" total but a much smaller residual obligation. The tables below report the federal-record ceiling and, where available, the remaining obligated amount, so readers can compare both.

Status definitions matter. Terminated means the contract has been ended for the convenience of the government; the contractor may be entitled to costs incurred plus a settlement. Reduced means the contract scope or ceiling has been pared back. Paused means work has been halted pending review but the contract is still active. Under review means DOGE has flagged the contract for evaluation but no formal action has been taken yet. The four states have very different cash-flow implications even when the headline "affected" figure is the same.

How DOGE Actions Are Tracked

Each row in the table above is sourced from one of three places: an announcement on doge.gov, a contract modification record in the Federal Procurement Data System, or a verified news report. Where the three sources disagree on dates or amounts, the FPDS record takes precedence because it is the authoritative federal procurement data feed; verified reporting is used to surface actions that have not yet flowed into FPDS.

We do not project future DOGE actions, predict whether a paused contract will be terminated, or speculate on contractor risk. The page reports what has actually been announced or recorded. For detail on a specific contractor, click through to the contractor profile, which lists every individual award and any DOGE-tagged actions against it. Read the full methodology.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is DOGE?

DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) is a federal initiative launched in 2025 to reduce federal spending by identifying and eliminating contracts the administration views as wasteful, consolidating agencies, and streamlining government operations. The program reviews federal contracts across all agencies for potential savings and publishes contract-level actions on doge.gov.

How much has DOGE cut from federal contracts?

Tracked DOGE actions have affected $4,940,000,000 in federal contracts across 18 actions. The breakdown: 7 terminated contracts ($2.7B), 5 reduced contracts ($540.0M), 4 paused contracts ($1.2B), and 2 contracts under review ($545.0M). Affected dollars represent the contracted ceiling or remaining obligated amount, not necessarily realized cash savings.

Are "DOGE savings" the same as actual cash savings?

No. DOGE-claimed savings figures often reflect the contracted ceiling of a terminated contract — the maximum value if every option year were exercised — rather than cash that actually leaves the Treasury. A contract terminated mid-period with most of the work already paid will show a large ceiling but a much smaller cash impact. We report the federal record on this page and flag where claimed savings exceed remaining obligations.

Which agencies have been most affected by DOGE?

The most affected agencies in this dataset are U.S. Agency for International Development ($1.8B), Department of Health and Human Services ($715.0M), Department of Education ($520.0M). Civilian agencies — USAID, the Department of Education, the Environmental Protection Agency — have seen the most prominent terminations; defense and intelligence have seen far fewer.

Where does this data come from?

DOGE action data is compiled from official government announcements at doge.gov, Federal Procurement Data System contract modification records, agency contract notices, and verified news reports. Every action is cross-referenced with the original contract record on USAspending.gov so the affected amount can be checked against the federal ceiling.

How often is this tracker refreshed?

The tracker refreshes whenever new DOGE actions are announced or appear in agency contract modification feeds. The current dataset was last updated April 2026. New actions usually appear within a few days of agency announcement; existing actions update if the program reclassifies them (for example, a "paused" contract that is later "terminated").
